A Roanoke Rapids woman was charged with possession of 102 grams of marijuana after a speeding stop Wednesday night.
Imani Stroud, 23, faces charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; carrying a concealed weapon; and maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for a controlled substance.
She received a $5,000 bond and September 2 court date.
In a statement Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin said Officer C. Batchelor was patrolling in the area of Hinson Street when he noticed the driver of a vehicle traveling above the posted limit.
He was met with an overwhelming odor of marijuana. He explained the reason for the stop and went to check the status of her license as Officer C. Hagbourne arrived to assist due to the odor coming from the vehicle.
Hagbourne located approximately 1 gram of marijuana on the driver and 12 grams of an unknown substance.
Batchelor conducted a search of the vehicle and located plastic bags of marijuana and a concealed handgun.
Stroud was placed under arrest and carried before a magistrate where she was charged.
