The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Chief Deputy Scott Hall:
On July 15 deputies responded to a shoplifting call at Dollar General located on Highway 301 in Halifax.
The person was seen walking out of the store with a shopping basket containing various items.

The man got into a dark-colored, mid-size SUV.

On July 6 deputies responded to a residence in Roanoke Rapids on a breaking and entering call.
Investigation by Detective R.M. Brown determined Silas Damarco Powell, 21, of Roanoke Rapids had filed a false police report.
A search warrant was executed by Brown and narcotics agents.
Drug paraphernalia was located along with the property that was reported stolen.
Brown charged Powell with filing a false report and Agent R. Ball charged him with possession of drug paraphernalia.
He received a $1,000 bond and an August 19 court date.
