The North Carolina State Highway Patrol continues its investigation into a Monday night collision which claimed the life of a Roanoke Rapids man.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 158 and Everette’s School Road outside Roanoke Rapids shortly after 6:30 p.m.

According to a preliminary report by Trooper Z. Perry, Adrian Denton Jones, 58, was traveling on a 2003 Harley-Davidson when he attempted to turn left onto Everette’s School Road and turned into the path of a 2016 Dodge pickup driven by Danny Ray Carpenter, 69, of Roanoke Rapids. Carpenter was hauling a boat.

Jones was transported to Vidant North Hospital where he was pronounced deceased from injuries sustained in the collision.
