The total number of cumulative positive cases of the novel coronavirus since testing began has surpassed 300 in Halifax County.

The approximate number of current cases can be calculated by subtracting the total recoveries from the positives.

In its update this afternoon the Halifax County Health Department reported as of midnight Thursday, it is aware of 1,762 confirmed tests on residents.

The breakdown is as follows:

304 positive cases; four related deaths; 232 recoveries; 14 tests pending; and 1,444 known negative test results.

“Today, our trend line continues with a slight downward turn,” the health department said. “Therefore, we all need to continue to practice the three Ws and also continue to follow the governor’s executive orders. Let’s all work together to protect each other, wear a mask, wait six feet apart, and wash and disinfect hands frequently.”

The weekly graph which provides the percent of positive results compared to the tests performed in a week shows the county’s percentage of positive tests is high, showing an increase from 16.9 percent to 17.7 percent since last week, the health department said.
