The Weldon Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chris Davis:
Wednesday shortly before 11:45 p.m., Officer M. DiPietro responded to the 200 block of Hurley Avenue on a domestic call.
DiPietro spoke with the female victim and discovered she had physical injuries.
Investigation showed Ronald Cade Singletary, 29, of Weldon, reportedly struck the victim.
Singletary was placed under arrest and taken before a Halifax County magistrate where he was charged with assault on a female.
He received a 48-hour domestic hold and July 13 court date.

This morning shortly before 2:15, DiPietro responded to the 400 block of West Third Street on a breaking and entering in progress call.
There was no breaking and entering but a man who had trespassed on the property was there.
DiPietro arrested Vance Jerome Parker, 61, of Weldon, and took him before a magistrate.
He was charged with second-degree trespassing and received a $500 secured bond. He has a July 13 court date.
Mason and the Halifax County Sheriff Office assisted.
