As North Carolina begins phase 2 of Governor Roy Cooper’s COVID-19 plan under Executive Order 141, the Roanoke Rapids Parks and Recreation Department announced the Chaloner Recreation Center splash pad will open Tuesday in a limited capacity.
The splash pad will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
The restrictions are as follows:
No more than 25 patrons in the splash pad and shelter area combined
Playground area will remain closed
The only portion of the recreation center that will be open will be restrooms for patrons using the splash pad
The splash pad will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Schedules and openings are subject to change with any changes from the governor or local authorities as well as any changes necessary to make this a smooth process for patrons and staff.
Appropriate signage will be posted with modifications and hours of operation on social media, as well as at Chaloner Recreation Center.
Staff will conduct daily symptom screenings of workers and perform frequent and routine environmental cleaning and disinfection.
The recreation department advises users to practice social distancing at all times. “The safety of our patrons and staff are of the utmost importance. Thank you for your understanding as we work through this process together to provide opportunities to our community in compliance with regulations and with safety as our main priority.”
