The trend line for Halifax County positive novel coronavirus cases has taken a sharp downward turn, health system Director Bruce Robistow said in his afternoon update.

He says, however, less tests were done over the same four-day time period due to the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

“The next couple of days will better determine if there is a true downward shift or if it is test volume related,” he said. “Please continue to practice appropriate social distancing, handwashing, respiratory hygiene, and wearing a facial covering whenever you are out in public. We will continue to monitor and post this trend line graph. Let’s all hope that we can continue the downward trend.”

As of midnight Monday, the health system reported it is aware of 932 confirmed tests performed on residents.

The breakdown is as follows:

157 positive cases; one related death; and 107 recoveries.

There are 30 tests pending and 745 negative results.

The approximate number of current cases can be estimated by subtracting the number of recoveries from the positive cases.
