There are now 71 positive cases of COVID-19 in Halifax County.

Health system Director Bruce Robistow said as of midnight Sunday, there have been 445 tests performed.

The breakdown of the tests is as follows:

71 positive cases; one death; and 45 people recovered.

It is known the one death in the county was in the Roanoke Rapids ZIP code area, according to a map on the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 dashboard.

The state says on the map ZIP code level data may change once residence is verified.

The total number reflected in the ZIP code level data may differ from the total number of cases and deaths at either the county or state level.

Cases are suppressed in ZIP codes where the population is less than five hundred and there are less than five cases.

All data are preliminary and may change as cases are investigated.

As of this report, rrspin has not reviewed the data on the ZIP code map in detail.

There are 10 test results pending and 364 negative results.

There remain 17 positive cases at Caledonia Correctional Institution in Tillery with 26 tests performed and nine negative results.
