There are now 36 positive cases of the novel coronavirus in Halifax County.

The one additional case was confirmed as of this morning at 11:30, health system Director Bruce Robistow said in an update.

Robistow said the health system is aware of 192 COVID-19 tests being performed on Halifax County residents to date. 

Of those 192, the health system can report the following:

36 positive cases which include one related death. Twenty of these positive cases have recovered

There are five test results pending

There have been 151 negative test results

Those who believe they may have the novel coronavirus are encouraged to contact their doctor or healthcare provider and seek their guidance.

Symptoms include a fever of 100.4 or higher; a cough with shortness of breath; fatigue and aching similar to flu.
