Two additional cases of COVID-19 in Halifax County were have been confirmed this afternoon.

The update by public health system Director Bruce Robistow today was as of 4:30 p.m. today.

He also reported five more people have recovered.

The two positive cases bring the total to 35 and out of those positive cases, 19 are now deemed recovered.

There has been one confirmed novel coronavirus-related death in the county.

There was no change in the count at Caledonia Correctional Institution in Tillery, according to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. There remain nine positive cases of the novel coronavirus. There have been 13 tests performed with four negative results.

Northampton County

Currently, there are still 73 positive COVID-19 cases in Northampton County, according to its health department. 

An additional five cases have recovered bringing the total number of recovered cases to 42. There are still two related COVID-19 related deaths, the department's update this afternoon said.
