Logan’s in Roanoke Rapids is not closing, its general manager, Mike Stettler said this afternoon.

His comments come after reports that corporate restaurants closed in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

But the Logan’s in Roanoke Rapids is not a corporate restaurant, Stettler said. It is a franchise restaurant in the CMAC chain, one of 18 owned and operated by one family.

“All the managers are still employed and CMAC is honoring bonuses and we have brought employees back to handle the to-go traffic,” he said. “Currently we have about 12 people on the payroll between kitchen and to-go and we’re adding more.”

With restaurants currently limiting business to take-out, Stettler said the chain had a good weekend. “Sales are up 30 percent from last week on the to-go business as a chain. Our business model is to keep it simple. We don’t want to confuse the consumer or the employees.”

The Logan’s Roadhouse corporate office announced last month it was temporarily closing its restaurants until further notice.

The Restaurant Business website reported last week Logan’s corporate fired its furloughed employees after bankruptcy court supervisors fired CEO Hazem Ouf and CFO Jim Lebs for paying sales taxes without permission.
