The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Selective Traffic Enforcement Team reported the following, according to Captain A.M. Harris:
On Sunday shortly after 6 p.m., Deputy Michael Bishop attempted to stop a vehicle on Interstate 95 near mile marker 166 for a motor vehicle violation.
The vehicle failed to stop which resulted in a brief chase. During the chase marijuana was thrown from the vehicle.

Joseph Douglas Hart, 29, of Greenville was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, misdemeanor elude arrest, maintain a vehicle for a controlled substance, driving while license revoked and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Hart was issued a written warning ticket for following too closely and received a written promise to appear in court on April 20.
Lieutenant C.E. Carroll, deputies J. Shoemaker, J. Pignanello and Corporal E. Johnson assisted with the stop.
