CSX Railroad has scheduled crossings to be closed for repair within Roanoke Rapids. 

This will necessitate rerouting traffic. 

Signage will be in place marking detour routes. 

These are estimated closing dates and can be subject to change due to weather or any unforeseen conditions. 

Each crossing will be closed for two to five days. 

In the event of any crossing being a one way in/out access CSX will try to make accommodations for this closure.

For any other traffic or roadway concerns you may contact the Roanoke Rapids Public Works Department at 252-533-2846.

The Roanoke Rapids Public Works department will provide updates with changes in the schedule as soon as it has been made aware. 

The affected crossings which will be closed on or around March 9 are:

West 13th Street (Between Roanoke Ave and Franklin St.) 

West 11th Street (At Monroe St. and Madison St.) 

West 10th Street/ SR 1400 (Between Madison St. and Monroe St.) 

West 9th Street (Between Madison St. and Monroe St.) 

West 8th Street (Between Madison St. and Monroe St.) 

West 7th Street (Between Madison St. and Monroe St.) 

West 5th Street (Between Madison St. and Henry St.) 

The affected crossings which will be closed on or around March 10 are:

West 4th Street (Between Taylor St. and Monroe St.) 

West 3rd Street (Between Taylor St. and Monroe St.)

West 2nd Street (Between Taylor St. and Monroe St.) 

West 1st Street (Between Henry St. and Monroe St.) 

Monroe Street (Between West 1st St. and Preston St.) 

Madison Street (Between West 1st St. and Preston St.) 

Roanoke Avenue (Between Washington St. Ext and Jackson St. Ext)
