The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division today followed up on several drug complaints which led to the execution of two search warrants.

Captain A.M. Harris said in a statement the first was executed shortly after 8 a.m. and the other after 11 a.m.

Agents executed the first search warrant downtown on Franklin Street following an investigation conducted by Agent C.A. Parker.

Parker seized 12 individually wrapped bags of marijuana and items of marijuana paraphernalia from the residence.

Parker cited Justin Wiggs, 36, of the residence, with a North Carolina Uniform Citation for possession of marijuana paraphernalia and arrested and charged Jessie Staten, 40, also of the residence, for possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possess more than one-half ounce of marijuana but not more than one and one-half ounces of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Wiggs received a November 21 court date and Staten received a $1,000 bond with a December 5 court date.

Lieutenant Steven Casey and his dog Torro assisted.

The second search warrant was executed with assistance of the patrol division on Straight Road off Highway 48.  

The investigation was conducted by Agent D.W. McKeel due to citizen complaints.  

With the assistance of canine Tony, approximately 37 grams of marijuana and items of marijuana paraphernalia were seized.

McKeel arrested and charged Joe Nathan Tabron Jr., 24, of Straight Road, for possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possess more than one-half ounce of marijuana but not more than one and one-half ounces of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

Tabron received a $10,000 bond and December 5 court date.

Agents will continue to follow up on all suspected drug activity, Harris said in the statement.
