A man who allegedly went on a cigarette-stealing spree from late 2010 to early 2011 was arrested last week.

Darian Peebles, who was developed as the alleged suspect in the case, is currently serving time in Caledonia Prison, and was transported to the magistrate's office in Halifax to be served the warrants.
Detective Obert Wiltsie of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said in a statement from November of 2010 to January of 2011, deputies and investigators responded to four break-ins of businesses in the Highway 158 west area of Roanoke Rapids.
From video footage and DNA evidence, Wiltsie said investigators were able to allegedly tie Peebles, 32, of Roanoke Rapids, to the crimes.
Wiltsie said more than $1,000 worth of cigarettes in pack form were stolen from the stores, as well as $10 worth of change.
Peebles was charged with four counts of breaking and entering, four counts of larceny after breaking and entering, four counts of possession of stolen goods, and four counts of injury to real property. He received a $20,000 bond and has a January 29 court date.
