A Roanoke Rapids woman is wanted by police for allegedly using counterfeit checks to obtain goods and services.

Captain Andy Jackson of the city's police department said Tonya Anstead has allegedly gone into several businesses, including at least two restaurants, and passed the bogus checks, which were generated with computer software.
Right now Anstead, whose last known address was 1101 Woodlawn Street, is being charged on one crime, Jackson said, and investigation continues.
Warrants have been lodged for her arrest on uttering a forged instrument, possessing a counterfeit instrument and obtaining property by false pretense.
Jackson said checks need to be carefully monitored by businesses. “If a person can get a visual on a personal or business check they can easily make a check with today's technology.”
