Roanoke Rapids paused to remember the anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorists attacks during a Patriots Day commemoration this morning.

Firefighters, police and other first responders, along with members of the public, assembled at Centennial Park to remember the anniversary.

Jean Reaves reflected on the day and Deputy Roanoke Rapids Fire Chief Wes Hux rang a special bell to remember the lives lost.
