Fundraising efforts are underway for a couple who lost their house and possessions in an early morning fire Monday.

“John and Mable Whichard lost their home to a fire,” the narrative of a GoFundMe page says. “When they lost their house they lost everything they owned.”

They own Whichard's Farm Market and Seafood on Highway 158 in Roanoke Rapids.

Mable makes sweets to sell for “everyone in town,” the page says. “They have lost all of their cooking materials and have nothing to continue baking for their business.”

The target goal is $15,000 although the estimated damages from the fire total around $190,000. “They need all of God's warriors to rally together and help them to replace some things they lost.  Anything you can donate is helpful.”

There is also a donation page set up on the social media site Facebook.
