On Monday shortly after 3 p.m., Agent R.E. Ball of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division was in the 700 block of Williams Street following up on a drug complaint.
While in the area, Ball noticed a hand to hand drug deal.
Ball conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle at Seventh and Marshall streets.
The driver was identified as Dashawn Moore, 25, of Roanoke Rapids. He denied consent to search the vehicle and was released pending Ball’s investigation.
The vehicle was towed to the sheriff's office where Ball applied for a search warrant.
During the search of the vehicle approximately 28 grams of marijuana and a digital scale was seized.
Ball obtained warrants for the arrest of Moore for possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Moore surrendered to Ball at the sheriff's office Tuesday and was served with the warrants. Moore received a $5,000 bond with a September 18 court date.
