A Littleton area man has been charged with two counts of second degree murder in a suspected drunk driving case Monday night.

Trooper J.D. Warren of the state Highway Patrol said Luke Harvey, of the Bowers Road area, is also charged with felony hit and run, DWI and driving while license revoked.

The crash occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Monday when Calvin Harris, 57, and Jocelyn Lynch, 37, who were both killed, were walking in the lane opposite where Harvey, 45, was driving on Bowers Road.

According to the initial report by Trooper D.T. Efird, Harvey was driving a pickup in the southbound lane of Bowers Road in the Littleton area when he crossed the center line and struck the pedestrians.

Harvey came to an uncontrolled stop on the shoulder an then left the scene. He was later arrested.

Harvey required medical treatment and blood was drawn to determine his blood alcohol content, Warren said. The samples have to be sent to the SBI lab for analysis.

Warren said Harvey already has a pending DWI charge. If convicted of the charges, he would be one DWI charge shy of being declared a habitual felon.

Warren said there is still much investigation to do in the case and a meeting with the State Bureau of Investigation is planned to do a crime scene search of the truck Harvey was driving.

It is not clear why the man and woman were walking. Harris lived on Roper Springs Road and Lynch lived on Bowers road.
