The Halifax County Sheriff's Office is investigating a suspected arson at a house on Anthem Drive, where a suspicious fire about 15 to 16 months ago destroyed another house on the same lot.
Major Bruce Temple of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said the State Bureau of Investigation is assisting detectives in the case.
Temple declined to discuss exactly what investigator would be looking into considering this is the second house to be destroyed on the lot in just over a year. “It means we've got a lot of work to do.”
Temple said he was not sure how the fire was set. He did say investigators would be looking at the old file from the previous fire to gain any clues.
The last house fire on the lot, which destroyed the house, was labeled suspicious, Davie Volunteer Fire Chief David Padgett said.
Padgett said firefighters were summoned to the neighborhood, located just off Zoo Road, shortly before 4 this morning, the house engulfed in flames which were visible across the entire roof.
At the scene late this morning firefighters were still attending to hotspots and Lieutenant Bobby Martin was there making sure no one crossed the crime scene tape as he waited for Detective Joe Sealey and the SBI arson team to arrive.

A portion of the gaffiti.
Graffiti in orange florescent paint was observed at the base of the house which said, “bitch ho, pregnint (sic) ho.”
The graffiti is definitely a clue in trying to solve the arson, Martin said, and was one of the reasons the fire department almost immediately turned investigation over to the sheriff's office.
No one was at the house when the fire, which gutted the house, started. It took around 20 firefighters from Rheasville and Davie about 15 minutes to get the blaze under control. They remained at the scene until 7:30 a.m. and then were briefly dispatched to contain hotspots.
