In an event leading up to the start of school later this summer, Roanoke Rapids Theatre is holding a Rock the House, Pack the Bus event, in which patrons to the August 9 Marshall Tucker Band show are being asked to bring various school supplies to fill a school bus.

The theater said it is canvassing schools to see what their needs are but it suggests anything from bookbags to pens, pencils, paper and notebooks.

The Marshall Tucker Band, on the road with its Through Hell & High Water and Back Again tour, will take the stage at 8 p.m.

The North Carolina-based R.T. Johnson Band will take the stage at 7 p.m.

The supplies will be donated to area schools.
