The Weldon Police Department this evening continues to investigate an armed robbery which occurred shortly before 8:15 at the Blue Flame.
Captain James Avens said a person described as a black male came into the store and brandished a weapon. The person, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and dark sneakers, demanded money and the clerk complied, giving an undisclosed amount of money.
The person was last seen running east on foot down second street.

Outside the Blue Flame.
At the scene police took statements from those inside the store as officers outside ran a dog track. One track led officers directly across the street to the railroad tracks.
Avens said anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444 or the police department at 252-536-3136.
