Tarps and Plastic: A limited supply of tarps and roll plastic is available to those who have experienced roof damage to their residences. Residents needing these supplies should call the Emergency Operations Center at 252-574-0209 to register for these supplies. Tarps and roll plastic will be available for pick-up from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. today (Thursday, September 1, 2011) at the Central Receiving and Distribution Point located at the Northampton County Schools Administrative Offices off NC-305, 100 Bagley Street, Jackson, NC. Again, residents must call 252-574-0209 to register for these supplies.
Electric power outages: Electric service has restored in many sections of the county but, as of 11:00 a.m. today, electric utilities reported that approximately 3000 customers remained without electric service. Dominion North Carolina Power and Roanoke Electric Membership personnel and their contractors continue to work through extensive system damage to restore power to everyone as soon as possible.
Damage Assessment Teams: Damage assessment teams from Northampton County began working Tuesday (8/30/11) conducting door-to-door visits to document damage to properties in Northampton County. State and federal damage assessment teams will begin working in the county today. Team members will identify themselves and will carry identification.
