William Roland Massey III's attorney appeared in Halifax County District Court Wednesday to ask for a continuance until September 28.

Massey is already scheduled to appear in court that day for timber theft charges lodged against him this year. Wednesday's court appearance was for charges lodged against him last year.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant James Mann of the Goochland County Sheriff's Office in Virginia said one of the county's warrants on Massey has been served, one for obtaining property by false pretense in an alleged Virginia timber fraud scheme.

A second warrant, one for attempted larceny of timber, has yet to be served, Mann said this morning.

Massey, who was on Goochland's Most Wanted List, turned himself into the Northampton County Clerk of Court Office two weeks ago and was released on a $25,000 cash bond.

Mann said that bond is good until September 8 when Massey has a court date in Goochland County.
