It now appears the man wanted for possessing some 94 stolen items may have allegedly been a break-in participant, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Courtney Demond Lynch, 33, of Roanoke Rapids, now faces three counts of possession of stolen firearms after a victim identified belongings, including the three firearms, Detective J. Sealey said today.

Sealey said 39 items were identified by the victim as coming from a self storage unit.

Because the dates the items were reported stolen and the dates in which they were found at Lynch's residence are so close, it appears he may have allegedly participated in the thefts, said Sealey, who said Thursday those matters were still under investigation.

Lynch, who lives in the Zoo Road area of Roanoke Rapids, has yet to be apprehended. While known to frequent areas in Roanoke Rapids, he is also known to go to the Charlotte area, Sealey said.

Six of the items were stolen from Mecklenburg County, Virginia, items valued at $3,500. In all, some $10,000 worth of stolen goods were found at Lynch's residence, along with some small marijuana plants.

Discovery of the items came after Deputy H. Phillips received a tip stolen weapons were at Lynch's house. Phillips, Sealey and Detective E. Carroll went to the house and were assisted by investigators from Mecklenburg County.

Sealey said investigators believe some of the items may have been stolen from Virginia Beach.

Lynch also faces charges of possession of stolen goods and manufacturing marijuana.

The victim in the gun case could not immediately be reached for comment this afternoon.
