A man who allegedly stole tools with victim's name on them this morning has been arrested by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.
Lieutenant Bobby Martin said Deputy O. Wiltsie responded to the Bolling Road area of Roanoke Rapids after receiving a call a suspicious man was in the area around 6 a.m.
Wiltsie saw Alfred Roy Harris, 33, who was carrying a trashcan containing power tools.
Harris told Wiltsie and Lieutenant Tim Harris the tools belonged to him and he was just moving them because of an argument with his girlfriend.
The tools, however, had the victim's name on them and were traced to their rightful owner on Maple Street, according to Martin.
The owner verified they were removed from a truck.
Harris, of Roanoke Rapids, was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods.
He was jailed on $5,000 bond and has a July 20 court date.
