A disturbance call in the Medoc community this morning turned deadly as a man described by investigators as an innocent bystander was shot in the back.
Captain Jay Burch of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said Deputy A. Lewis and Sergeant Greg Richardson initially responded to the Highway 48 and Medoc Mountain Road area on a disturbance call where a party with at least 100 people outside was occurring.

As the deputies arrived shortly after 1 this morning, shots were heard and the crowd dispersed. As they took the alleged shooter, Delorean Tremaine Taylor, into custody they discovered 18-year-old Kevin Jamar Davis of Littleton lying the yard.
Burch said Davis had been shot in the back.
Richardson and a citizen began performing CPR on the victim until emergency help arrived. He was flown to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville but died.
Burch said Taylor apparently got into an argument with someone else when the shots were fired. “The victim was not part of the argument. The young man who was shot was an innocent bystander.”
Taylor, 28, of Enfield, was charged with murder and is currently being held at the Halifax County Detention Center without the possibility for bond. The court date in this matter is set for July 6.
