A Hollister man was charged Thursday morning with possessing 12.4 grams of crack cocaine after Halifax County Sheriff's Office deputies conducted foot patrols at an area business.

Detective J. Puhak said deputies O. Wiltsie and B. Knight were conducting foot patrols at the business on Highway 561 after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area.

The deputies warned them about loitering on the lot after hours. One man, 28-year-old Skanondo Wilton Richardson, began acting suspicious and walked away.

Deputies learned the vehicle which was reported to be suspicious was Richardson's and a search yielded the crack cocaine.

Richardson was charged with felony possession of cocaine and jailed on $2,500 bond.

He has a July 20 court date.
