The idea of Toni Outland, the monument’s dedication is “For those who fought terrorism.”

Several guests spoke before unveiling, including Reverend Willie McLawhorn, whose son died in Afghanistan in 2010.

Before the unveiling, Outland’s son, Jamie, who serves in the Army, presented his mother with a bouquet of red, white and blue roses.
