A 42-year-old Margaretsville man was charged with possession of 17.5 dosage units of ecstasy Tuesday morning.
Tierra Jordan, who was a passenger in a vehicle, also faces other charges following a traffic stop by members of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team, Major Anzell Harris said in a statement.
The vehicle was stopped in the area of Roanoke Avenue near East Eighth Street in Roanoke Rapids around 11:30 a.m. CAT Sergeants G. Martin and D. Harrison were patrolling in the area when Martin stopped the vehicle.

During the stop, Harris said Jordan admitted to smoking marijuana and throwing it out after seeing the officers behind the vehicle.
During a search of Jordan, 17.5 dosage units of MDMA/Ecstasy, along with additional marijuana, were seized. A 9mm handgun concealed in the passenger area of the vehicle was also seized.
Jordan was arrested and charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of marijuana up to one-half ounce, carrying a concealed gun, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Jordan had previously been convicted of felony flee to elude arrest in October 2022 in Greensville County Circuit Court, following a charge for the crime in August 2021.
He remains in the Halifax County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond and has a May 28 district court date.
