A Roanoke Rapids man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including larceny of a firearm, following a reported break-in that occurred on Sunday morning.
Timothy Brooks, 39, of Roanoke Rapids, was taken into custody shortly after the Halifax County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Highway 158 near Everetts School Road around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.

According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched after a victim reported a man had broken into a residence and left with property. During the initial call to Halifax County Emergency Communications, the victim reportedly identified the suspect as Brooks by name.
Corporal M. Kalkbrenner located a man matching the victim’s description approaching a convenience store in the vicinity. The deputy made contact with Brooks and detained him. Following a search of the area, the stolen property, including a firearm, was recovered.
Brooks was arrested and charged with: Habitual breaking and entering, larceny of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Brooks, as of this report, remained in custody at the Halifax County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond and was scheduled for a district court appearance today.
