A routine traffic stop escalated into a high-speed vehicle pursuit on Friday, resulting in the arrest of a Littleton man on felony charges.

The chase began shortly before 9 a.m. when Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Community Action Team Sergeant D. Harrison attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding — clocked at 68 mph in a 55 mph zone — in the 5000 block of Highway 4 in Littleton.

The driver, identified as Jadarrel Faulcon, 39, of Littleton, failed to stop, initiating a pursuit that reached speeds of 74 mph.

The chase continued from Highway 4 onto Highway 561 toward the Hollister area. As the suspect's vehicle turned onto Arcola Road, Harrison reportedly observed the driver discarding clear plastic baggies believed to contain illegal drugs.

An older male walking was also noted by the officer in the same vicinity. Despite a search, the discarded items were not located.

The pursuit concluded on Arcola Road when the vehicle eventually stopped at Junco Lane in Hollister, where Faulcon was taken into custody by Harrison.

Faulcon faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing to elude, speeding, failure to heed blue lights and siren, failure to stop at a stop sign, and unsafe movement.

He was issued an $8,500 secured bond. Faulcon is scheduled to appear in district court on Monday.
