A father and son face marijuana trafficking and weapon charges following a raid that occurred Thursday in the Neuse River Road area of Halifax County.
The amount of marijuana that constitutes the trafficking charges against Roscoe Sylvester Greene, 48, and Ahmaad De’Angelo Greene, 24, is 17.95 pounds. The warrant against the two reads "more than 10 pounds but less than 50 pounds," according to the document filed in eCourts records.
Major Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the raid occurred around 12:30 p.m. and was carried out by the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, and the Special Response Team.
For several months, agents of the task force received community complaints of suspected drug activity, prompting an investigation into the residence.

“The search warrant was a direct result of concerned community members working with law enforcement to identify a problem location,” Harris said.
The Task Force followed up on the complaints and conducted an investigation leading to the seizure of illegal drugs and illegal weapons.
Upon executing the search warrant, the Greenes were located inside the residence.
During the search, agents discovered over 17 pounds of marijuana, copious amounts of packaging materials and other drug paraphernalia, dosage units of unknown orange round pills, eight bottles of Promethazine, three firearms, and $17,546 in currency.
The marijuana was stored in clear plastic bags and in various cannabis storage-friendly, smell-proof mylar candy bags.
Promethazine is used to make "lean," which is a mixture of a soft drink, cough syrup, and prescription medications. However, the Promethazine found did not contain codeine, which was the benchmark for criminal charges. The orange pills were not controlled substances, Harris said.
According to the arrest warrant for the son, a Palmetto State Armory XM-15 and an ROA Micro Draco were modified to turn the weapons into machine guns.
Three charges of possession of a firearm by a felon were lodged against Ahmaad after he served 14 months of supervised probation for felony fleeing to elude arrest. He had pleaded guilty on October 31, 2023, as eCourts records show.
Roscoe was charged with felony possession of a machine gun, trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ahmaad was charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession of a machine gun, trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men were released on the day they were charged and are scheduled to appear in district court on September 25.
