Vidant Health and Halifax Regional have signed a formal agreement to integrate Halifax Regional into the Vidant system of care.

According to a statement from Halifax Regional this morning, the agreement is effective by early June.

“Vidant Health and Halifax Regional are committed to delivering high quality care for the communities we serve in eastern North Carolina. Over the past few months, team members from both Vidant and Halifax Regional have been working closely together through the due diligence process. We are excited to share that both Halifax Regional and Vidant have signed a formal agreement to integrate Halifax into the Vidant system of care effective early June. We are planning a public event in June in which the media and public will be invited.”

In October of last year the healthcare organizations signed a non-binding letter of intent.

The LOI, Halifax Regional said in a statement at the time, allowed both organizations to proceed with discovery and formal discussions about the possibility of Halifax Regional integrating with Vidant Health.

“Both Vidant Health and Halifax Regional recognize the importance and benefit of partnership, which allows for the sharing of resources, knowledge and experience,” the October statement said. “We look forward to working together in the coming months to discover how these two healthcare organizations can provide a better, more integrated system-of-care for the communities we serve.”
