State Representative Rodney D. Pierce will host Heba Atwa at his next Bringing the Capital to the Constituents series.
Atwa is the director of legislative advocacy and campaigns for the North Carolina Budget and Tax Center, a non-partisan nonprofit organization that works in partnership with community leaders to analyze fiscal and economic policy and build collective efforts for public policy change.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, August 18 in Room 108 of the Philip W. Taylor Complex at Halifax Community College — 100 College Drive in Weldon.
Atwa will provide an in-depth breakdown of the key differences between the proposed NC House and Senate budget plans, as well as the implications of House Resolution 1 — the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
Her remarks will focus specifically on how these legislative proposals impact House District 27.
“Constituents have reached out to my office time and again with questions about the state budget and House Resolution 1,” said Pierce. “I wanted someone with real expertise in policy and fiscal analysis to meet them where they are, answer their questions, and provide a clear explanation. Heba Atwa is that person.”
