The family of Jewel Sykes continues to seek information on their missing loved one.
She was last seen on February 2, 2023, a family member said, and her last known location was at her boyfriend’s residence in Roanoke Rapids.
“Every lead we get we follow,” Weldon police Chief Christopher Davis said this week.
Georgia authorities were recently in contact with the police department but that lead turned up empty, Davis said.
At the time of the original report in 2023, the police department said she was last seen in the 200 block of East Sixth Street and placed that time between February 2 or 3.
There had been no signs of foul play in her disappearance and family have told officers she doesn’t suffer from any cognitive impairments.
Sykes stands approximately 5-feet, 7-inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds.
She has black hair and brown eyes. It is unknown what she was wearing around the time of her disappearance.
The Dock Ellis Foundation announced it had taken a role in the case in April of 2023.
The foundation is the legacy of the late Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis and is a national missing persons organization dedicated to bringing minorities home.
A $15,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Sykes's whereabouts, the family said.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-536-3136, Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444, Crimestoppers Pays, or the Ellis Foundation at 888-222-6050.
