Ginny Lewis, who guided the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce as its president and CEO for the last six years, submitted her resignation Wednesday.
In a post on the chamber’s Facebook page, she said, “I consider the last six years of my service to the community an honor, and I appreciate all those who supported my efforts to make this community a place to want to live, work, and play.”
She declined to discuss the reasons that led to her decision this evening.
It was her mission to bring integrity to the chamber, she said. “We made it through COVID and had just really begun to see things opening back up. In 2024 and 2025, we were able to see the chamber starting to grow by being able to hold events again, including our networking events.”
Lewis said the chamber had begun to see memberships and sponsorships grow and had just recently celebrated the organization’s 75th anniversary.
The slate for the Friday night free concert events at Centennial Park had been planned, as well as the chamber’s upcoming golf tournament.
“It was a very difficult and emotional decision because I have invested my time, energy, and love to serve the Roanoke Valley,” she said. “Now I will take a few days to relax and get my peace of mind back.”
