A Roanoke Rapids man faces cocaine trafficking counts following a stop for a motor vehicle violation Tuesday night in the area of Highway 158 and Huckleberry Bottom Road, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy R. Lafayette charged Kashun Nasir Holiday, 27, with trafficking cocaine by possession, trafficking cocaine by transportation, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed gun.

The arrest came after Lafayette detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle following the stop, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. 

A search of the vehicle yielded a trafficking amount of cocaine, marijuana, a concealed firearm, and over $1,000 dollars in currency,

Holiday, who has a September district court for two driving infractions, received a $100,000 bond. He was not listed on the Halifax County Detention Center’s website this afternoon. He has a district court date set for Thursday.
