The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Major Anzell Harris:
On Tuesday a report from the Nash County Department of Social Services of a possible indecent liberties with a minor case was received.
Working the investigation together, a forensic interview was conducted.
Detective Sergeant T. Byers obtained a warrant on Jaylen Taylor, 22, of Roanoke Rapids for second-degree forcible sex offense.
Taylor was initially jailed without the opportunity for bond and following a Wednesday district appearance he received a $75,000 secured bond and remains incarcerated until a second district court on May 22.
Speed a Little, Lose a Lot
On April 14 through April 20, the sheriff's office will participate in the Governor's Highway Safety Program’s Speed A Little, Lose A Lot campaign.
Deputies are planning several traffic enforcement events throughout the county.
During the month of March, deputies conducted a total of 29 events which included saturated patrols, speeding enforcement, seat belt initiatives, checking stations and educational traffic safety information.
