A gun stolen from New Orleans in 2019 was recovered during a traffic stop Monday morning and a 32-year-old Littleton woman faces charges stemming from the enforcement.

Major Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported that around 10 a.m. Deputy R. Lafayette was patrolling in the area of Zoo Road and Highway 158 when he stopped a vehicle driven by Jackie Mills.

The deputy smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle and Harris said Mills admitted to possession of a blunt.

A search of the vehicle yielded the marijuana blunt as well as a Glock handgun that had been entered into NCIC as stolen.

Mills was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed gun, and simple possession of marijuana.

She received a $5,000 bond with an April 24 district court date.
