Roanoke Rapids police continue to investigate a shooting which occurred inside Walmart Sunday night.
One person was injured and Captain Harold Phillips said it appears the person who was shot was the intended target.
He said an argument that began in the parking lot around 10 p.m. continued inside the store.
In a statement this morning Phillips said when officers arrived the parties involved were gone and detectives were called out to investigate and collect evidence.
Officers were notified that a shooting victim was at the hospital for treatment. Investigators learned the person was the victim who had been shot at Walmart. The victim was taken to another medical facility and their condition is not immediately known.
“We’re still working to identify the people involved,” Phillips said this morning.
In the statement he said investigators are working the case around the clock and the business is fully cooperating with police.
