To help Halifax County residents apply for available energy program rebates, the Center for Energy Education will facilitate two information sessions this week.
C4EE staff will host Halifax County homeowners and renters Wednesday and Thursday, February 26-27, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., to share details about applying to the Energy Saver North Carolina program.
Held on its campus at 460 Airport Road, Roanoke Rapids, the events are free and open to the public.
An initiative launched by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, Energy Saver North Carolina helps income-eligible homeowners and renters cover energy efficiency and electrification upgrades through HOMES — Homeowners Managing Efficiency Savings — and HEAR — Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates.
Through an online application process, the program aims to help residents in high energy-burdened, disadvantaged communities save money and improve their homes.
The rebate program, currently active in Halifax and Cleveland Counties, will provide qualified and certified contractors to perform the work.
To confirm eligibility, residents should bring with them proof-of-income documentation — pay stubs, W-2 forms, etc. — 12 months of electric bills and a valid email address. C4EE will provide laptops and staff support toward the application efforts.
“Energy Saver NC rebates will provide a clean energy boost to our community through healthy, comfortable homes with modern appliances and upgraded systems as well as registered weatherization contractor opportunities,” said Mozine Lowe, executive director of C4EE. “Join us as we help you navigate the steps to reduce residential energy costs.”
