One man has been arrested in a shooting at the Green Store Monday but Halifax County Sheriff’s Office investigators continue to look for the shooter, Detective Doug Pilgreen told The Spin this morning.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting which occurred around 3 p.m. Detective Doug Pilgreen said in a news release deputies responded to the Green Store on Highway 48 outside Roanoke Rapids.
The victim stated he was leaving the Green Store and was attempting to pull out onto the highway. While waiting for traffic, a gray Honda pulled up beside him. A person described as a black male jumped out with a handgun and demanded money.
The victim was shot in the leg. A struggle ensued and the suspect jumped into his car and fled the scene.
The suspect is described as standing 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 7 1/2 inches tall. He had brown skin and was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and blue jacket.
The victim was transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids and later transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is investigating an armed robbery which occurred around 1:15 this morning, Chief Jeff Hinton said.
The victim, Thomas Moody, said he was at a party on Jefferson Street when someone struck him on the head and cut him on the arm. His money was taken.
Moody did not go to the hospital. The case remains under investigation.
One of two men wanted in the shooting of woman Sunday turned himself in to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office this morning.
