Weldon City Schools has requested a meeting with county commissioners to discuss funds not appropriated for an architect to design a new high school. The joint meeting will be July 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the cooperative extension auditorium.

• On June 25 a breaking and entering was reported in the area of Carolina Rest Home Road, where the following items were stolen: A red Homlite generator, a black Campbell 60 gallon air compressor, a Speedway series jumpstart box, two yellow wire wagons, a red Murray push mower, four yard rakes, nine shovels and a Mikita cordless drill in a green case.
• On June 26 four, 18 inch chrome wheels with balding tires were taken from a yard in the area of Lucky Drive Halifax
• On June 26, a Dino 4500 generator was stolen from the area of Nations Road, Roanoke Rapids. The generator is described as a black engine and frame with a Briggs and Stratton motor with a section red in color with white writing of "4500."
