A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested Thursday following a high speed chase that went through Weldon and Roanoke Rapids.
A Weldon man has been arrested in the Wednesday morning home invasion on Jackson Street, the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said.
The Roanoke Rapids Police Department has a person of interest it wants to question in the Wednesday night fire at Stanley White Presbyterian Church.
The Weldon Police Department reported the following:
• Anthony Jerome Gray of the Pleasant Hill area was arrested on July 13 by Sergeant Will Shaw when police received an anonymous tip from a concerned neighbor. Captain James Avens said Gray knocked out a window and was found in the garage when officers arrived and was charged with breaking and entering and damage to property.
He was jailed on $1,000 bond.
“I would like to encourage citizens to not hesitate in calling for suspicious activities that go on in their neighborhoods. I would like to personally thank the anonymous caller that was concerned enough to make the call,” Avens said.
• Marcus Wayne Hardy of the Roanoke Rapids area was arrested on July 16 by Shaw after being stopped in a vehicle for speeding that lead to a drug arrest.
Hardy had marijuana and hydrocodone pills.
He received a $100 unsecured bond.
A man described as a person of interest in a February convenience store robbery now has a warrant for his arrest.
