Halifax Community College (HCC) is proud to announce the graduation of 20 students from the nursing program.
Each student has completed the requirements for the Registered Nurse (RN) credential and has earned their Associate Degree in Nursing.
The 2020 graduates from the Nursing Department are: Emily Alston, Lisher Barnes, Alesha Boyce, Kimberly Brooks, Brittany Byrum, Emily Cross, Taneka Cumbo, Jenell Deloatch, Laneisha Garner, Shelley Gillikin, Jarese Griffiths, Julia Johnson, Stefanie Johnson, Brittany McCowan, Deja Pemberton, Dakeyla Rosser, Ilene Scott, Tiya Taylor, Shameka Whitaker, and Imari Wilson.
Among the graduates, three graduated with distinctions bestowed by the Nursing Department. Emily Cross was the 2020 Patriot Award for Clinical Excellence. Cross was chosen because of her exceptional skill and leadership during her clinical rotations.
Jenell Deloatch received the Patriot Leadership Award for her strong leadership throughout her tenure in the HCC Nursing Department.
Ilene Scott was the 2020 Fundamentals Day winner, recognized for her skill and ability during the Nursing Department’s annual Fundamentals Day series.
Upon graduation, the HCC Nursing Department boasted 100 percent employment of the graduating class. More than 75 percent of the graduates received employment in Halifax County, increasing the number of excellent healthcare providers in the Roanoke Valley.
Each of the graduates will participate in HCC graduation, rescheduled for August 1 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
