The Nu-Blu Band will be the headlining musical act for Halifax Harvest Days.

Sponsored by the Halifax County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the band is a Top 10 Billboard act and is the host of the Bluegrass Ridge television show. The band performs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on October 22 after performances by the Brake Tyme Band at 10 a.m. and the Rusty Hubcaps at noon.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Harvest Days.

An event for fourth- and fifth-grade students begins on October 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then on the following day the festival, which celebrates the county’s agricultural heritage, is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Schedule of October 22 events

The 4-H 5K Run/Walk, sponsored by Roseburg Forest Products, is at 8 a.m. 

Registration for the 5K, which will raise funds for Halifax County 4-H programs, is available online now at this link or by calling Halifax County Cooperative Extension at 252-583-5161. 

There are three divisions: ages 8-18, ages 19-39, and ages 40+. Registration is $30 and includes a T-shirt. Registrations made after October 3 will not be guaranteed an event T-shirt. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. the day of the event.

Harvest Days will celebrate the world of agriculture, including educational exhibits, games, hay and wagon rides, 4-H Ag Olympics, art and photography contest, agricultural museum tours, historic period demonstrations, fossil displays, Eastern Bluebird Rescue, ECSU STEM trailer, Rosenwald School, Roanoke Rapids Fire Department Safety House, farm animals, antique tractors, cotton wagon, pumpkin patch, Andy the Ambulance, NC Forestry, NC Wildlife, and vendors.

Peanut threshing demonstrations will take place at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and the sawmill demonstration will occur at 11:30 a.m. 

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the 4-H poultry show will be held.

Food, arts and crafts, and product vendors are still being accepted with reasonable vendor fees. There is no cost for nonprofits and churches.
