The Halifax County Tax Department will be closed Friday, January 7 and Monday, January 10, 2022, due to COVID restrictions in order to protect the health and well-being of staff and the public. 

The office is scheduled to reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

As the month of January is the listing period for property located in Halifax County, the Halifax County Tax Assessor will request the listing period to be extended at the Halifax County Board of Commissioners' meeting on January 18, 2022. 

Further information regarding the listing period will be communicated once the extension date has been determined.

For the public’s convenience, much of the business that would normally be conducted at the Tax Department can either be handled online or via phone by staff when the office is open. 

The public is encouraged to either call or email prior to visiting the office to determine if an in-person visit is necessary.
