Requirements: Graduation from a four-year college or university with 30 semester hours of course work in the physical or biological sciences and two years of exposure in environmental health; OR a four-year or Master’s degree in environmental health from a program which is accredited by the National Accreditation Council for Environmental Health Curricula of the National Environmental Health Association and one year of experience in environmental Health. All health department employees (with the exception of individuals with an accommodation or medical exemption) are required to receive an annual flu vaccine as a condition of employment. An appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of NC is required and must be maintained. Applicants must be eligible to become registered as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Registered Environmental Health Intern with the NC State Board of Registered Environmental Health Specialist Examiners.
